Analysis and Design of a Modern SCADA System

(fajer) #1
4.4.2 Connection Procedure
To connect the SCADA substations with the server and ensure
that acquisition and control (analog and digital) signals are sent and
received between them, the following procedure was adopted:
1. The function generator is connected to the DAQ board. Its analog
input channels represent (Temperature, voltage, current and
frequency) signals, and digital inputs channels represent (status, fire
alarm) signals, (DAQ has 16 analog input channels and 16 digital
output channels).

2. This board then was connected to the DAQ PCI card that was
equipped with the PCs, which is responsible for signal conditioning
and analog to digital converter (ADC) and digital to analog converter
(DAC).

To establish connections between the PCs and the server, the
following steps were taken:
a. Connecting the first PC equipped with the wireless LAN to the
Access Point.
b. Connecting the second PC and the Access Point to Ethernet
switch.
c. Connecting the switch to the server.
d. Giving the PCs and the server their special IP addresses and
Port numbers (socket address).

3. Two programs were made by the LabVIEW 9 .0 software :

The First: The Sender Program (Nodes Program):
 Inputting data from DAQ.
