France. She likely
spends her days
taking care of
animals and sewing.

Joan is captured and sold to
the English. They accuse her of,
among other charges, lying and
dressing like a man. She’s thrown
in jail to await trial.

Teenage Joan—dressed like a man—visits Charles VII,
demanding that he let her fight on his behalf. Although
he realizes she’s a woman, he agrees, allowing her to

Joan’s efforts.

Found guilty, Joan is burned
at the stake at age 19. But
nearly 500 years after
her death, she’s still seen
as a fearless leader who
changed the course of her
country’s history.
