Sundew

Grows All continents except

Antarctica. They like bogs.

Fearsome fact Don’t be fooled

by the sundew’s jewel-like blobs

  • they’re a death trap for insects

that get stuck in the glistening

goo! Tentacles curl around the

struggling victim, then the leaf

folds around it too, oozing fluids

that dissolve the body. Eek!

Grows Jungle marshes in
Southeast Asia, India, Australia
and the Americas.

Fearsome fact Victims are
lured to nectar on the plant’s
lid or rim, then lose their grip
on the slippery sides, tumbling
into the liquid-filled funnel.
Digestive acids turn the insects
into a nutrient soup. Yum!

Pitcher plants can be a

goOd place to find water –

but boil it BEFORE DRINKING,

and remove any dead flies!
