parabolaThe curved line GRAPHformed by plotting a QUADRATIC

EQUATION. The parabola contains a VERTEX, an axis that runs

through the vertex, called the axis of symmetry, around which the

points of the curve of the parabola on either side of the axis are

symmetrical, and has x- and y-intercepts. The parabola curves to

point upward if the COEFFICIENTof the SQUAREDterm is positive,

and downward if it is negative.
