Equivalent Fractions

6-4

Fractions that name the same part of a whole or a set
are called equivalent fractions. ^12 , ^24 , ^36 , ^48 are equivalent.

To find equivalent fractions, multiply or divide the numerator
and denominator of the fraction by the samenonzero number.
This does not change the value because it is the same as
multiplying or dividing by 1.

^56 1 n 8 382 ^1 r

^56 33 ^1158 3.^82 . 88 ^14

^56 ^1158 382 ^14
