Compare and Order Decimals

You can compare decimals the same way you compare whole numbers.
Start at the left and compare the digits in the same places.

0.834? 0.8342

0.834 0.8342

Check using a number line.

Since 0.834 is to the leftof 0.8342
on the number line, 0.834 0.8342.

Order these decimals from greatest to least:
0.1285, 1.6 99 3, 0.0668, 0.0 9 14.

Remember: You can add a zero
to the right of a decimal without
changing its value. 0.834 0.8340

Use place value to compare and order decimals.
Line up the decimal points.
Compare the digits in each place, starting with the greatest place.
