THE LOVE SONG OF J. ALFRED
PRUFROCK
BY T. S. ELIOT
T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) was a quintessential Modernist
poet and produced perhaps the definitive modern
lyric, βThe Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.β He also
published essays and drama throughout his writing
career. Eliot was an astute critic of contemporary
literature who championed many other writers of his
day, including Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott
Fitzgerald. In his twenties, Eliot left America and
eventually became a naturalized British citizen.
