STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY
EVENING
BY ROBERT FROST
Robert Frost (1874-1963) was undoubtedly the face
(and voice) of American poetry in the twentieth
century. His prolific career as a poet spanned seven
decades. He is most strongly identified with New
England (though he was born in California). Frost’s
work is notable for its emphasis on traditional rhythm,
its quotidian subject matter, and its apparent and
deceptive simplicity.
