Most clients will rescheduleif they are sick. We all havea little congestion or evensniffles from time to time. Ifthis is the case I offer a varietyof options to soothe theirsymptoms, such as hot tea, warm cider, a heated neckpillow, warm mittens/booties,or a cozy throw. It is surprisinghow healing these things canbe. That said, my clientele isgood about rescheduling dueto illness. I personally havenot had to cancel a day dueto illness. However, if I wereunder the weather and feelingcontagious I would stay homebecause I wouldn’t want topass my illness on to clients.I give my clientele the samerespect they give me. Healthyclients are happy clients!Karla RochellePampered Hands and Feet, Chicago``````ILLUSTRATION BY YUIKO SUGINOcrowdsourcingBUSINESS}Do you make clients reschedule during cold/flu season ifthey come in sick? Do you reschedule if you’re sick?If I know I’m contagious or itwill interfere with the qualityof my service I will definitelyrebook my day. I occasionallypost on my social media toannounce to clients to considerrebooking when they areunwell. I have also had my sickclients as well as myself wearface masks during services andrun air purifier fans and diffuseessential oils during cold andflu season to assist in keepingthe germ spread low. I’malso extra diligent with handwashing and using sanitizer onclients.Savanna G laz ierSG Foot Care & Aesthetics,Regina, Saskatchawan, Canada``````If a client is feeling under theweather (or I’m contagious)I’m not going to be a happy nailtech, period. Appointmentsare definitely rescheduled. If Ihave to reschedule, it creates abigger inconvenience for bothmy client and me all because“Boogery Barb” decided sheneeded a polish change — shecan wait. My clients know to callme at the first sign of sniffles, and chances are I can fill theirspot. If they show up lookingsick and feeling nauseated witha barf bag (yes, this happened),their appointment is cancelledand I’m charging them for theirscheduled service.Sheera GershAddicted to Nails, Tempe, Ariz.``````Absolutely! My clients havebeen with me long enough toknow that they will be senthome if they arrive sick. Ijokingly have threatened torat them out by name to all myother clients if I catch whateverthey have and I have to cancelon everyone! My clients knowthat if I don’t work, I don’t getpaid, and nobody wants to beresponsible for that. I alwayscancel when I’m sick, too.I’ve saved an emergency fundso I don’t feel that financialpressure to drag myself outof a sick bed to work, but Iremember times in my youthwhen I didn’t have that cushionto fall back on, and I workedwith walking pneumonia.Jill WrightJill’s - A Place for Nails,Bowling Green, Ken.This month we asked nail techs:92 | NAILS MAGAZINE | DECEMBER 2016Next question:What’s your favorite service, or part of a service,to perform and why?
