Seasons
Earth is closest to the sun during the Northern Hemisphere winter (December,
January, and February) and farthest away during the Northern Hemisphere
summer (June, July, and August). Seasons are NOT caused by Earth’s distance
from the sun, but rather by the angle of sunlight hitting Earth.

Latitude–Longitude
Longitude specifies east-west positions on Earth. 0° longitude begins at the
Prime Meridian in Greenwich, England. The degrees continue 180° east and
180° west until they meet and form the International Date Line in the Pacific
Ocean. Latitude specifies north-south positions. 0° latitude is the equator. 90°
