EXPORTING


The global waste trade is the international trade of waste between countries for
further treatment, disposal, and/or recycling. Toxic or hazardous wastes are often
exported from developed countries to developing countries.


Pros


■ Exporting gets    rid of  the problem immediately for one country.
■ It is also a source of income for poor countries.

Cons


■ Exporting could   cause   garbage imperialism or  environmental   racism.
■ Long-term effects are not known for the importing country.
■ Wastes are expensive to transport.

OCEAN DUMPING


Ocean dumping is the deliberate disposal of municipal and/or hazardous wastes
at sea.


Pros


■ It    is  inexpensive.

CONS


■ Debris    may float   to  unintended  areas.
■ Marine organisms and food webs are impacted.
■ It is illegal in the United States as per the Marine Protection, Research,
and Sanctuaries Act (Ocean Dumping Act) of 1972. Virtually all of the
