LD 50

The dose of a pollutant or drug that kills 50% of the members of a tested
population. It is the most common indicator of toxicity.

Therapeutic Effect


The consequence of a test, the results of which are judged to be desirable and
beneficial whether the result was expected, unexpected, or even an unintended
consequence of the treatment.


Toxic


Relating to or caused by a poison.


Toxic Dose


The amount of a substance that may be expected to produce a toxic effect.


TD 50


The dose at which toxicity occurs in 50% of cases.
