  1. (C) The oceans hold 97% of all water on Earth. Freshwater only makes up
    3%. Of that 3%, 90% of it is trapped in ice and snow, which is rapidly
    melting due to global warming. Of the freshwater left, the majority is found
    in groundwater, with the remaining 3% of freshwater found in lakes, rivers,
    and streams. Of the total amount of water on Earth, only 0.01% is located in
    lakes, rivers, and streams.
