  1. (D) The distribution of biomes is primarily determined by global climatic
    zones as measured by average annual temperature and rainfall. An area’s
    climate will determine what sort of biome can be sustained in that area.
    Other determining factors include sun angle, heat import, and the angle of
    Earth’s rotation. Regional climates, which also determine the distribution of
    biomes, are affected by rain shadows and cold or warm ocean currents.
