(A) Plastic makes up 90% of all trash floating in the oceans, enough that, in
some areas, plastic outweighs plankton by a ratio of 6 to 1. A circular
pattern of currents, called the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre, has corralled
an enormous vortex of floating garbage, often referred to as the Great
Pacific Garbage Patch.
