  1. (B) Asexual reproduction produces organisms that are genetically identical
    to the parent. Fission is the simplest form of asexual reproduction and
    involves the division of a single organism into two complete organisms,
    each genetically identical to the other and to the parent (e.g., bacteria).
    Budding occurs when a group of self-supportive cells sprouts from and then
    detaches from the parent organism (e.g., hydra).
