Race Track

A game designed to build the concept of expanded form

Materials:

Q 4 dice (labeled 1–6 with numerals)

for each player

Q Race Track for each player

Q Pencil or pen for each player

Directions:

1. Players say, “On your mark. Get set. Go!”


2. Players roll all four dice and form a 4-digit number
   with the numbers rolled.


3. Players write this number on the fi rst speed limit sign
   and write the expanded form of this number in the
   fi rst section of the race track.


4. As soon as the section of the race track is complete, the
   player rolls again and repeats the process.


5. All players are fi lling in individual race tracks at the
   same time.


6. The winner is the fi rst player to accurately complete
   his race track.


7. Answers are verifi ed by other players after the game.

Content Differentiation:

Moving Back: Use three dice for 3-digit numbers.

Moving Ahead: Use more than four dice for larger

numbers.
