Number Line Fill Up
A game designed to build the concept
of number line proficiency

Materials:

Q^ Number Line Fill Up template
for each player
Q^ Decahedron die (ten-sided, labeled 0–9) or
0–9 spinner (see page 142)

Directions:

  1. Each player rolls the decahedron die (or spins the 0–9
spinner) one time to fi nd his start number.

  2. Players decide where to write their start numbers on the
    Number Line Fill Up template.

  3. All other rolls (or spins) are numbers shared by all players.

  4. Each player records the new numbers one at a time. In this
game, players are rolling (or spinning) one digit at a time
to make 2-digit numbers in a counting by ones sequence.
If a number cannot be used, the player waits for the next
roll (or spin). Once a number is written, it cannot be moved.

  5. The winner is the fi rst player to complete an accurate number
line chunk including four 2-digit numbers in order.
