Solving Coin

Problems

Suppose you have some coins in your wallet. In order to determine the
amount of money you have, you would multiply the value of each type of
coin by the number of coins of that denomination and then add the answers.
For example, if you have 6 nickels, 4 dimes, and 2 quarters, the total amount
of money you have in change is

6 5 cþ 4 10 cþ 2 25 c
¼ 30 cþ 40 cþ 50 c¼ 120 cor$ 1 : 20 :

In general, then, to find the amount of money for

Pennies – multiply the number of pennies by 1c
Nickels – multiply the number of nickels by 5c
Dimes – multiply the number of dimes by 10c
Quarters – multiply the number of quarters by 25c
Half dollars – multiply the number of half dollars by 50c
