Two Equations

Many of the previous types of problems can be solved using a system of two
equations with two unknowns. The strategy used to solve problems using two
equations is:

Step 1: Represent one of the unknowns asxand the other unknown asy.

Step 2: Translate the information about the variables into two equations

using the two unknowns.

Step 3: Solve the system of equations forxandy.
