Tangshan, China, suffered the deadliest earthquake of the20th century on July 28, 1976. One-quarter of the populationwas killed or seriously injured, with an estimated deathtoll of 242,000 people.
Whereas European languages such as English or Frenchuse an alphabet of 26 letters, the Chinese language usesa system of over 40,000 characters or symbols.The “Yongle Dadian,” an encyclopedia of the Chinese Mingdynasty, had 22,937 chapters in 11,000 volumes. More than2000 Chinese scholars worked on the book for five yearsbefore it was finished.

Tiananmen Square in Beijing is the largestpublic square in the world, covering anarea of 100 acres (40.5 hectares).
