Denmark occupies the Jutland peninsula and over


400 islands in southern Scandinavia. Greenland and the


Faeroe Islands are self-governing associated territories.

Fertile farmland covers two-thirds


of the terrain, which is among the


flattest in the world. About 100 islands


are inhabited.
