At 836,100 sq miles (2,166,600 sq km), Greenland
is the largest island in the world. However,
677,700 sq miles (1,756,000 sq km) of this is a
massive ice sheet so heavy that the central land
area has sunk to form to a basin more than
1000 ft (300 m) below sea level.

The Jakobshavn Glacier is among
the world ́s fastest glaciers, often
moving 100 feet (30 m) a day,
and calves around 20 billion tons
(tonnes) of icebergs every year.
