Portugal is one of the world’s largest
producers of cork and has regulations
protecting cork trees dating back to 1320.

Port has been produced in the Duoro
Valley under strict regulation since
the 1750s. Brandy is added to the
grape juice to fortify and
strengthen the wine.

Gibraltar was seized by a combined Anglo-Dutch fleet
under Admiral Rooke in 1704. British sovereignty was
then formalized in 1713 by the Treaty of Utrecht, and
Gibraltar eventually became a British colony in 1830.
