A. AIRPORTS
(i) VCS REPLACEMENT (LARNACA AND PAPHOS AIRPORTS)The Voice Communication System
(VCS) replacement has been launched
since 16/10/2018 and implemented in- The ANSP has implemented the
replacement of the VCS System with
new functionalities intended to
improve and support the Ground/Air
voice communications, or radio
communications, between Air Traffic
Controllers and aircraft pilots.
(ii) NAVAIDS (VOR/DME)
REPLACEMENT AT LARNACA AND
PAPHOS AIRPORTSA project for their replacement (VOR/DME) for both Larnaca and Paphos Airports has been
launched and is at its planning stage.B. ACC NICOSIA
(iii) EXISTING ATM SYSTEM (MAIN) ESSENTIAL UPGRADES (new functionalities, for
interoperability with NM and others)This project has been launched since 1/3/2019 and implemented in 2020.
The CCAMS functionality concerns the central management of SSR Codes by Eurocontrol for the
optimum allocation of codes within CCAMS states with the purpose of preventing code shortage
in the European airspace. The upgrades have been completed including the installation of the
CCAMS functionality. Switchover to
CCAMS will be re-arranged following
the COVID-19 postponement.(iv) STANDBY ATM SYSTEM
REPLACEMENT (Watch keeper)
The project is ongoing with the related
contract expected to be signed within
June-July 2020.(v) DATALINK IMPLEMENTATION
The implementation of Datalink (DL)
communications is a regulatory
requirement of the ANSP. This project
consists of various sub-projects. The contracts of this project are to be signed in summer 2020.
The implementation of the Datalink is expected as per the declared deadline 1/1/2023.
