Because neatness reflects well, sloppy cross-outs, mark-overs, and other similar
changes suggest to the potential employer that you act before you think. Put your
most important details first, and use any remaining space to add other details.


STEP 5: Writing—Answering the Questions


Answer all questions concisely and accurately. Do not leave sections blank even if
you must write “Does not apply.”


STEP 6: Revising and Proofreading—Checking Details


When you’ve finished the application form, read over it carefully.



  • Make sure everything is spelled correctly.

  • Make sure dates, names, addresses, and phone numbers are accurate.

  • Make sure everything is neat and legible.

  • Make sure you’ve not omitted anything.

by U.S. mail.
