STEP 7: Proofreading—Checking the Details

When you have completed the revisions and prepared your final draft, check for
accurate spelling and good word choice. Using Part IV of this book for reference,
check grammar, mechanics, usage, and punctuation for accuracy. Especially check
to see that all quotations are accurately enclosed in quotation marks and accurately
punctuated. Make any necessary corrections.

WritinG-across-tHe-curriculuM Models

Here and online are five book reports, all of the same novel, developed for five pur-
poses. Recognize that some books are far more appropriate for certain classes than
are others. In fact, your teacher or instructor may assign a specific book or give you
a reading list from which to choose a book. These models should not be miscon-
strued to mean that any book is appropriate for any class or subject area. After you
have read the reports here and online, however, you should be better prepared to
write effective reports tailored to the class for which your are preparing it.
