  1. Notice that possible roots are± 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 6 , 8 ,24. Of these 14 possibilities, four will yield a remainder of
    zero. When you find one, repeat the process.

= (x+ 1 )(x^3 + 5 x^2 − 2 x− 4 )
= (x+ 1 )(x− 2 )(x^2 + 7 x+ 12 )
