http://www.ck12.org Chapter 5. Trigonometric Functions
Graph each of the following functions using your knowledge of function transformations.
8.h(x) =3 sin−^1 (x+ 1 )
9.k(x) =2 sin−^1 (x)+π 2
10.m(x) =−cos−^1 (x− 2 )
11.j(x) =cot−^1 (x)+π
12.p(x) =−2 tan−^1 (x− 1 )
13.q(x) =csc−^1 (x− 2 )
14.r(x) =−sec−^1 (x)+ 4
15.t(x) =csc−^1 (x+ 1 )−^32 π
16.v(x) =2 sec−^1 (x+ 2 )+π 2
17.w(x) =−cot−^1 (x)−π 2
Evaluate each expression.
- sec(tan−^1 [^34 ])
- cot(csc−^1 [^1312 ])
- csc(tan−^1 [^43 ])
The height of a point on a circle as it spins over time creates a sine wave. You learned that there are many ways to
change this function and each depends on manipulating the circle where the wave comes from. The circle can be
shifted up or down, made larger or smaller, spun faster or slower or even started at different places. Each of these
changes produces a transformation in the graph.
