meeting remotely until into 2021. In the
meantime, anyone wishing to join is welcome
to contact us via Facebook or the website

Do you invite guest speakers?
Our Programme Secretary never fails to
produce a good selection of speakers.
External speakers make up the majority of
those making presentations but some of our
own members are good orators too.

How many members do you have?
We have around 50 members.

Do members compete in regional or
national competitions?
Many members have acquired accreditations
over the years from the Royal Photographic
Society and the Photographic Alliance of

Great Britain. Presentations of successful
panels are held in the hope of inspiring
others to try the distinctions route. Several
members enter into regional, national and
international salons with a good deal of
success. The club competes regionally in the
East Anglian Federation as do individuals
within the club. We have recently entered the
Welsh Mono (National) competition. We hold
interclub competitions/battles (print and
projected image) within the county.

Are any residential trips or outings
planned?
We made recent group visits to Venice and
Berlin and were planning further trips when
Covid-19 hit. Valencia is high on the list for
when travel becomes a freer option. Members
have also visited the International Festival of
Photojournalism in Perpignan. Closer to home

we have an annual photo treasure hunt in
London and have held model photo shoots
and lighting training in the local area.

What are the club’s goals for the future?
To give members a valuable experience, be
this the social aspect, by winning contests or
feedback from judges and fellow members in
ways to improve their photo skills.

Other comments.
We meet in a centre that also hosts theatrical
productions. As part of a project in
conjunction with the venue to illustrate the
range of activities that are held there, we
have the opportunity to photograph some of
the productions and other events. Shoots are
usually during a dress rehearsal which allows
us free movement around the auditorium as
the show progresses.
