Speedy

by Karen Miller

Nikon D850, Nikkor 500mm 5.6,
1/400sec at f/8, ISO 900

Karen is a wildlife guide based in
the Scottish Highlands with a
passion for mountain hares. ‘I
followed Speedy throughout August
watching him mature, which was
wonderful. He was a very conding
animal. On this occasion I was lying
on the ground photographing him
when he started grazing and
approached me. It was such a
privilege!’ The colourful wildowers
have further enhanced what would
have already been a lovely photo of
Speedy. A great job by Karen.

Bamburgh Sunrise

by Craig Scott
Nikon D750, 16-35mm, 2sec at
f/10, ISO 200
‘I took this shot at sunrise, having
checked the app Photopills and
knowing that the sun rises directly
behind the castle,’ says Craig, an
Edinburgh-based family and pet
photographer. ‘Having never been
before, I arrived early so I could park
and nd a spot I liked. I chose this
viewpoint on the beach as I liked
how the waves were falling over the
rocks and receding back again into
the sea.’ Craig used a Formatt
Hitech Polariser and a 3-stop soft
grad to maintain detail in the sky.
