Banks pleaded guilty to fraud in 2017
after facing charges stemming from his
work as a financial adviser to former
NBA star Tim Duncan, and stepped
down from his role at Terroir. Along
with the acquisition, Third Leaf Wines
has hired Bob Guinn, formerly senior
vice president of sales for Wilson
Daniels, as the winery’s vice president
of sales.
Mulderbosch was founded in 1989,
and went on to become a renowned
regional leader known for its high qual-
ity wines and packaging. The winery
sells approximately 40,000 cases annu-
ally in the U.S. While it’s most known
for its Chenin Blanc, Mulderbosch also
produces Sauvignon Blanc, a red
Bordeaux blend, and a rosé.
“Mulderbosch is an iconic brand,”
says Alex Pagon, managing partner for
Third Leaf Partners, parent company of
Third Leaf Wines. “For decades, the
winery has produced outstanding wines
and has been a category leader with a
strong and amazingly successful history
in the United States and Europe.”


E. & J. Gallo Launches
Women In Wine Campaign
E. & J. Gallo has unveiled a new “Women
Behind The Wine” campaign supporting
the advancement of women in the wine
industry. The initiative includes a
$100,000 scholarship grant to the
Women of the Vine & Spirits Founda-
tion; in-store displays, trade events, and
print and social media promoting female
leadership; and a “Buy Wine, Fuel
Dreams” partnership with retail and
on-premise operators aimed at empower-
ing women in the industry.


Quintessential Wines Adds
Foppiano To Portfolio
Napa, California-based Quintessential
Wines has taken over marketing and sales
for Russian River Valley winemaker Foppi-
ano Vineyards. Founded in 1896, the
160-acre, family-owned estate includes


117 acres of vineyards planted to Petite
Sirah, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay,
and Sauvignon Blanc. Quintessential’s
footprint for Foppiano will be nationwide,
retailing between $20-$35 a 750-ml.
Foppiano formerly was marketed by Pacific
Highway Wines & Spirits.

Familia Torres Sets Up
U.S. Import Arm
Spain’s Familia Torres has established its
own U.S. import unit, effective at the
start of June. Torres is parting ways with
current importer Ste. Michelle Wine
Estates, which has handled its Spanish
and Chilean portfolio of wines and spir-
its since 2014. Ste. Michelle and Torres
will continue to partner in several inter-
national markets, with Torres represent-
ing the Ste. Michelle portfolio in China
and Brazil, and Ste. Michelle represent-
ing Torres with international cruise line
and duty-free customers. Going forward,
Ste. Michelle’s U.S. import portfolio will
include Marchesi Antinori of Italy,
Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte of France,
and Villa Maria of New Zealand.

Other Half Brewing
Announces Second Location
Brooklyn, New York-based Other Half
Brewing has announced the opening of
a second location in East Bloomfield,
New York, 25 miles outside Rochester.
It will take over the former Nedloh
Brewing building, an 8,000-square-foot
space that will house both a taproom
and production facility. The taproom
will feature 20 of Other Half ’s brews on
draft along with small batch offerings
and collaborations. They will also be
launching a full line of sour beers.
Founded in 2014, Other Half ’s Brook-
lyn location has become a destination
for Northeast IPA aficionados.

New Investors Buy
Control Of Schlafly Brewery
A group of local investors led by David
Schlafly has acquired a controlling
interest in the Saint Louis Brewery,
