BamburghCastleandBudleBay,around 10 miles

furthernorth.Theselocationshavegaineda

reputationfora goodreasonastheyoffer

photographersclassicviewswhereit’sharder

totakea badpicturethana goodone.

However,headinginlandwillgiveyouthe

opportunitytomixupyourlandscapeimagery,

whetherit betothevastKielderForest(thelargest

man-madewoodlandin England)orthemajestic

rollinghillsthatplayhometoHadrian’sWall.

Parkingupclosertooneof thesmallertowns,such

asBlyth,willalsoofferamazingframesthatcanbe

populatedwitheverythingfromwoodenpiersto

gargantuancommercialfishingboatstocolourful

beachhuts.Moreadventurousphotographers

canheadforthehighergroundof theCheviot

Hillsin thenorth-westof thecounty,oryoucan

takeit easybythewatersof theupperTyne

nearthetownsof HexhamandHaydonBridge.

Northumberlandhasthebenefit of being

sparselypopulated,whichresultsin many

areasof darksky,freefromlightpollutionand

thereforeenablingastrophotographyorthe

chancetocaptureglimpsesof theNorthern

Lightsif theaurorawindsarestrongenough.
