Fighting Scientists

The Fighting Scientists passage is fundamentally different from the Charts and Graphs and

Experiments passages and requires a different approach.

Step 1: Work the Figures

Take 10–30 seconds to review your figures. What are the variables? What are the units? In what direction

do the variables move?

Graphs present trends visually. For tables, you need to make it visual. Mark the trends for each variable

with an arrow. Here are three tables from a good Now passage with the trends marked.
