BONUS PROFICIENCIES
When you choose this tradition at 3 rd level, you gain
profic ie ncy in the Performance s kill if you don't a lready
have it. Your martia l arts technique mixes combat train-
ing with the precis ion o f a dancer and the a ntics of a
jeste r. You a lso gain profic ie ncy with bre we r's supplies if
you don't already ha ve it.

DRUNKEN TECHNIQUE
At 3 rd level, you learn how to twis t a nd turn quic kly as
part of your F lurry of Blows. Whe never you use Flurry
of Blows , you gain the benefit of the Disengage action,
and your walking speed increases by 10 feet until the
end o f the curre nt turn.

TIPSY SWAY
S tarting at 6th level, you can move in s udden, swaying
w ays. You gain the following benefits.
Leap to Your Feet. Whe n you're prone , you can s ta nd
up by sp ending 5 feet of movement, rather than half
your speed.
R edirect Attack. Whe n a creature misses you with
a me lee attack roll, you can s p e nd 1 ki point as a re-
a c tion to cause that attack to hi t one creature of your
choice, other than the attacker, that you can see within 5
feet of you.

DRUNKARD'S LUCK
Starting at 11th level, you a lways seem to get a luc ky
bounce at the right mome nt. When you make an ability
check, a n attack roll, or a saving throw and have disad-
vantage on the roll, you can s pend 2 ki po ints to cancel
the disadvantage for that roll.

INTOXICATED FRENZY
At 17th level, you gain the ability to m ake a n overwhe lm-
ing number of attacks against a group of e nemies. Whe n
you use your Flurry of Blows , you can ma ke up to three
additional attacks with it (up to a total of five Flurry of
Blows attacks), provide d that each Flurry of Blows at-
tac k ta rgets a different c reature this turn.

Way of the Kensei


Monks of the Way of the Kensei tra in re le ntlessly with
their weapons, to the point w he r e the weapon becomes
an extens ion of the body. Founded on a mas tery of
sword fighting, the tra dition has expande d to include
m a ny diffe rent weapons.
A kensei sees a weapon in much the same way a cal-
ligraphe r or painter regards a p e n o r brush. Whatever
the weapon, the ke nsei view s it as a tool used to express
the beauty a nd precis ion of the martia l arts. Tha t s uc h
mastery makes a kensei a pee rless warrior is but a side
effect o f inte nse devotion, prac tice, a nd s tudy.

PATH OF THE KENSEI
Whe n you c hoose this tra dition a t 3rd level, your s pe-
c ia l martia l arts tra ining leads you to master t he use of
certain weapons. This path also inc ludes in struc ti on in
the d e ft strokes o f calligraphy or painting. You gain the
following benefits.
Kensei Weapons. C hoose two types of weapons to
be your ke nsei weapons: o ne me lee weapon a nd one
ra nged weapon. Each of these weapons can be any s im-
pl e or martia l weapon that lacks the heavy a nd s pecia l
prope rties. The longbow is a lso a valid choice. You gain
proficie ncy with these wea pons if you don't already have
it. Weapons of the chosen types are monk weapons for
you. Many of this tra ditio n's features work only with
your ke nsei weapons. Whe n you reach 6th, 11th, a nd
17th leve l in this class, you can c hoose anothe r type of
weapon- e ithe r me lee or range d- to be a ke nsei weapon
for you , following the c rite ri a above.
Agile Parry. If you make an unarme d strike as part of
t he Attack actio n on your turn a nd a re ho lding a ke nsei
weapon, you can use it to defend yourself if it is a me lee
weapon. You gain a +2 bonus to AC until the s tart of
your next turn, while the weapon is in your ha nd and
you a ren't incapacitated.
Kensei's Shot. You can use a bo nus action o n your
turn to ma ke your ra nged attacks with a ke nsei weapon
more deadly. Whe n you do s o, a ny ta rget you hit with a
range d attack us ing a ke nsei weapon takes a n extra ld4
d a mage of the weapon's ty pe. You re tain this benefit un-
til the e nd of th e curre nt turn.
Way of the Brush. You gain profic ie ncy with your
c ho ice o f calligraphe r's supplies or painter's s upplies.
