findinga compositionthatworked.AfterI
suggesteda compositionthatwouldworkwell,
Stephenfounda viewpointthatprovidedfour
treescomingoutfromeachcornerof theframe
fortheultimatelead-inlines.Oncethisimage
wastakenwetrieda coupleof othertechniques
andunfortunatelydefocusingdidn’tworkwith
themaximumapertureof Stephen’slens,but
aftermovingontothelensballhehada lotof fun
experimentingwithdifferentwaysof shootingit.
CHALLENGE 2 Pro verdict
- The hardest part of shooting into trees is finding the right
spot. 2) No less than four lead-in lines – perfect. 3) Stephen
uses f/8 when shooting into the tree canopy for a large
depth-of-field. 4 & 5) Stephen tries different ways of holding
and positioning the glass ball to find the method that
produces the best results.

THE UPSIDE DOWN
The image in the glass ball may be upside
down but it still creates a surreal and wholly
unconventional view of the landscape.
