Finding the Tonic Note in a Major Scale with Sharps
The tonic note of a sharped scale (also called the keyor the key tone)is easy to determine using the key signature:
locate the half step above the lastsharp. This note is the tonic, or key. (The tonic may be drawn in any octave.)
Be sure to notice if a sharp in the key signature will affect the pitch of the tonic note.
