Minor Triad

The minortriad, like the minor scale, may elicit a different mood or response in the listener depending on one’s
cultural background. Listen to the four pairs of triads drawn below; the first one is major and the second one is
minor. Listen for their different quality.

“LAS MAÑANITAS”

“Las Mañanitas” is a Mexican birthday song, traditionally sung in the early morning to wake up and serenade the birthday celebrant.

“Wake up, my dear, wake up, look, it is already dawn.” It may also be sung at a party before the cake is cut.

*At “mi bien,” the name is sung.
