Constructing Augmented Triads
Use either method to draw an augmented triad.
Method 1: Use the intervals of an augmented triad
- An augmented triad consists of a major third (M3) and an augmented fifth (A5) above the root. A major third
(M3) occurs between the upper two notes.
Method 2: Change a major triad to an augmented triad
- Raise the fifth (top) note of a major triad a half step to construct an augmented triad. For example:
