NOTE:   As  a   plural  number  marker, 们 měn is    only    used    with    nouns   denoting    people. It  is  not used    when
there are words indicating plurality, such as numerals or words like 一些 yìxiē, 很多 hěn duō. In many
cases, the plural number of a personal noun is implicit without the use of 们 men. In the example
sentence, 们 měn is not obligatory, i.e. 学生都很喜欢 这位新老师。 Xuésheng dōu hěn xǐhuan zhè wèi xīn lǎoshī. All
the students like this new teacher. is correct and idiomatic.

NOTE: The staple food for southern Chinese (Chinese living south of the Yangtze River) is 米饭 mǐfàn,
while northern Chinese mainly eat 面食 miànshí (food made of wheat flour), such as 面条儿 miàntiáor
(noodles) and 馒头 mántou (steamed buns).
