NOTE:   Although    its original    meaning is  the body, 身体 shēntǐ is  often   used    in  colloquial  Chinese to  mean
health. Friends often ask about each other’s health in greeting: ■ 你身体好吗? Nǐ shēntǐ hǎo ma? How’s
your health? ■ 你最近身体怎么样? Nǐ zuìjìn shēntǐ zěnmeyàng? How’s your health been recently?

shēnkè 深刻 [modif: 深 deep + 刻 carve] ADJ incisive, insightful, profound ■ 这位老人经历十分 丰
富,对人性有深刻的认识。Zhè wèi lǎorén jīnglì shífēn fēngfù, duì rénxìng yǒu shēnkè de
rènshi. This old man has had very rich experiences and has an incisive understanding of human
nature.
