yíxià 一下 ADV (used after a verb to indicate the action is done briefly or casually) ■ 请您等一 下，王

NOTE: It is very common in spoken Chinese to use 一下 yíxià after a verb, especially as an informal
request. Some Northern Chinese speakers use 一下 儿 yíxiàr instead of 一下 yíxià. More examples: ■ 请 您
来一下儿。Qǐng nín lái yíxiàr. Please come over for a while. ■ 我们在这里停一下儿吧。Wǒmen zài zhèli tíng yíxiàr
ba. Let’s stop here for a while. ■ 让 我想一下儿再回答。Ràng wǒ xiǎng yíxiàr zài huídá. Let me think a while
before I answer.
yíxiàzi 一下子 ADV all at once, all at a sudden ■ 这么多事一下子做不完，明天再做吧。Zhème duō
shì yíxiàzi zuò bu wán, míngtiān zài zuò ba. We can’t finish so many things at once. Let’s continue
tomorrow.
yíxiàng 一向 ADV all along, always
yìxiē 一些 MEASURE WORD a small amount of, a bit of ■ 请你在我的茶里放一些糖。 Qǐng nǐ zài wǒ de
chá li fàng yìxiē táng. Please put a little sugar in my tea. ■ 我这里有一些书，你看看还有没有
用。 Wǒ zhèli yǒu yìxiē shū, nǐ kànkan hái yǒu méiyǒu yòng. I have a few books here. Have a look
to see if they are still useful.
yíyàng 一样 ADJ same, identical ■ “一下”和 “一下儿”是一样的。 “Yíxià” hé “yíxiàr” shì yíyàng
de. “Yixia” and “Yixiar” are the same. ■ 你今天去，明天去，都一样。Nǐ jīntiān qù, míngtiān
qù, dōu yíyàng. It’s all the same whether you go today or tomorrow.

yìzhí 一直 ADV always, all the time ■ 我一直住在 这个城市。Wǒ yìzhí zhù zài zhège chéngshì. I’ve

cháng dǎtīng nǐ de xiāoxi. He is always concerned for you and asks after you.
yízhì 一致 ADJ unanimous, identical ■ 会上没有 取得一致的意见。Huìshang méiyǒu qǔdé yízhì de
