Warlocks

Give n their dealings with ofte n s inis ter otherworldly pa-
trons in excha nge for power, wa rlocks don't have aster-
ling re putation in the Realms. Even well-meaning war-
locks are viewe d with s us picion a nd justifiable caution.
S ome wizards feel the very exi stence of wa rlocks taints
th e view of th e ir noble Art a nd causes the common folk
to view all practitioners of magic with doubt.
Some warlocks, particularly those of f ey or fie ndish
bloodlines, a re born with a propens ity for their powe r,
drawing th e attention of pote ntia l patrons even from
childhood. Others seek out a pact, sometimes because
they can't find the power th ey desire elsewhe re. Some
warlocks forge multiple pacts, a lthough they mus t even-
tually com e to favor one over the othe rs, as the ir patrons

The gods are far from th e only forces at work in the
Realms , a nd a mbitious wa rlocks have m a ny pote ntial

TuEARCHFEY
In the vast w ildernes s of the Realms one can s till find
connections to the Feywild. T hese a re fey crossings ,
places of mysterious natura l be auty in the world that
have a near-pe rfect mirror in the Feywild. You can pass
through a fey crossing by ente ring a clearing, pass ing
through the surface of a pool, s tepping into a circle of
mushrooms, or crawling under the trunk of a tree. A few
warlocks seek out such places to ba rgain with the Arch-
fey of tha t realm for power. Notewor thy Archfey patrons
include the following:
Titania, the Summer Queen, is perha ps the mightiest
of th e archfey. With a smile , s he can ripen a crop, a nd
w ith a frow n, summon wildfires. S he rules the seelie
of th e Summe r Court.
Oberon, th e Green Lord, a n unriva led hunte r and
woodla nd warrior, is Tita ni a's lover a nd fr equently
her foe. Oberon is attune d to every bough of each
tree a nd each bra nch of eve ry stream in the forests of
the Feywild. If Oberon has a weakness, it is the wild
nature of hi s heart. His mood swings like a weather
vane in a wind s torm.
Hyrsam, the P ri nce of Fools, is thought to be the fir s t
satyr. He can s ing the shine off gold , and his jokes
a nd antics can cause s tones to cry w ith la ughte r. Yet
Hyrsam is also the soul of savagery a nd
th e wild. Hyrsam the Fool is a p ranks ter
a nd prone to mischief, but whe n s uch jokes
turn vicious and deadly, Hyrsam the Savage
is at pl ay.
The Queen of Air and Darkness rules th e
unseelie of the Glo a ming Court from a n

THE FIEND
Numerous fie nds forge pacts with morta l warlocks in
the Realms - so many th at warlocks are almost syn-
onymous with infernal power in Faen1n. These fiends
include the Archdevils of the Nine Hells and the ir most
powe rful dukes, the Demon Lords of th e Abyss, a nd the
ultroloths who rule over yugoloth a rmies. S uch deals
need not be struck directly with th e power in question,
however. Ofte n a weaker fiend serves as a n intermedi-
a ry, a nd the wa rlock might not know whom he or s he
serves. Notable fiendish patrons peculia r t o th e Forgot-
