Help For Needy Children. This relief on Trajan's Arch at Beneventum (A.D. 114) commemorates the Emperor's scheme for the upkeep of the children of
the poor. Trajan stands to the left of the dispensing table at the centre; parents and children queue up or depart at the right; Beneventum and three other
city-goddesses who have benefited from the scheme attend in the background.
