Legionary Amphitheatre at Vindonissa (Windisch, in Switzerland). Vindonissa was the fortress of the Thirteenth Legion from about A.D. 16, and was
subsequently occupied by the Twenty-first and Eleventh Legions before being evacuated about 100. The amphitheatre was used both for military drill and
to provide the entertainments to which the legionary soldiers were accustomed at home.
