CHAMPIONSHIP

The championship moved south in 2002, to the city of Ath-
ens. The event was organised by the Greek University Sports
Federation. The second edition of the European University
Volleyball Championship recorded a significant increase in
the number of participants, as altogether 24 men and women
university teams came to the capital of Greece. The strongest
were the teams from Ukraine, winning both champions titles.
In the men finals, the National Juridicial Academy defeated
the University of Montpellier with 3:0. The women finals
were played by the Ternopil Academy of National Economy
and the University of Athens, that had to admit the defeat
to their colleagues from Ukraine 3:0. The participants took
the opportunity to thoroughly get to know the historical city
with all its attractions and sights.
