EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY SPORTS ASSOCIATION From foundation on 1999-2009

In the EUSA Seminar, which took place at the same time, the
keynote speakers stressed the important relationship between
University, Tourism and Sport.
The second edition of the EUSA Convention for organisers of
the European Universities Championships 2007 was organ-
ised in Valencia with participation of EUSA representatives,
Technical Delegates and the representatives of the Organis-
ing Committees.

The year will be remembered for the first EUSA multisport
event, hosted in the Netherlands. Championships in Volley-
ball, Football and Tennis as well as EUSA Cup in Water Polo
were organised in Eindhoven at the same time and place.
The event welcomed more than 1000 participants and was a
good test for the eventual future events like this.

Following the Activity Plan, the new elected board started
to establish ties with European Political and Academic Or-
ganisations, National University Sports Associations and their
related Universities. The EUSA attendance and its activities
were firstly presented at the Danube Rectors Conference in
Maribor, in the presence of approximately 70 Rectors and
the European Commissioner for Research. EUSA was present
also on FISU Forum in Abu Dhabi and at the FASU General
Assembly in Pretoria. All these assembly events were followed
by other meetings with member federations in the presence
of the representatives of the university life and also of the
political and sporting deputies.

The 8th General Assembly was held in Valencia, Spain. The
General Assembly chaired by Mr. Roch Campana from Bel-
gium accepted Montenegro as the new, 39th EUSA member
country. The delegates among others approved the modifica-
tion of the Statutes and accordingly changed the mandate of
the Executive Committee from two to four years. Mrs. Jelka
Gošnik from Croatia and Mr. Olaf Tabor from Germany were
elected as EUSA Auditors until the next General Assembly.
