Faraday’s law
Law stating that a changing magnetic field produces an electric current in a conductor.
ferromagnetic material
Material that can be magnetized (iron, nickel, or cobalt).
field study
Investigation of a problem in a real-world setting.
flammability
Ability of matter to burn.
fluid
Substance that can flow and take the shape of its container; either liquid or gas.
force
Push or pull acting on an object.
fossil fuel
Mixture of hydrocarbons that formed over millions of years from the remains of dead organisms (petroleum,
natural gas, or coal).
frame of reference
Something that is not moving with respect to an observer that can be used to detect motion.
freezing
Process in which a liquid changes to a solid.
friction
Force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching.
