Nepartakwithoutrevealinghertruepredicament.Lyingtoher
requiresasuccessfulDC 12 Charisma(Deception)check.Ifthe
charactersrevealthatshe’snothingmorethanadisembodied
skull,iftheyfailthreeCharismacheckstodeceiveher,orif
theysimplyignoreher,Nepartakgrowsincreasinglyanxious,
thenfliesintoamurderousrage.


Thevoiceshrieksinhorrorastheskull’seyesockets
flarewithgreenflame.Withashatteringcrash,the
crystalboxexplodesandtheskulllevitatesintotheair.

Nepartakhasthestatisticsofaflameskullbutdoesn’t
speak,insteadcommunicatingusingtelepathyouttoarange
of 30 feet.Whensheattacks,swarmsofmummifiedspiders
pouroutfromthenichesatthestartofthefollowinground.


UndeadSpiderWarrens


Sixswarmsofundeadspidersinhabitthewarrenswithinthe
wallsofthetomb.Theyaretreatedasswarmsofinsects
(spiders),exceptthattheyaresusceptibletoeffectsthatcan
targetundead.
ThewarrensaretoonarrowforMediumandlarger
creaturestoenter,andSmallcreaturesmustsqueezeto
traversethem(see“MovementandPosition”inchapter 9 of
thePlayer’sHandbook).Tinycreaturescanmovethroughthe
warrensfreely.Theswarmsattackanycreaturesthatenter
thewarrensoranycreaturesinMoa’stombifNepartak
becomesenraged.


Treasure


Thestonesarcophagusisn’tlockedandcanbeopenedwitha
successfulDC 15 Strength(Athletics)check.Inside,abundleof
fadedclothholdstheserpentinebonesofajaculi(thetrickster
godMoa’sanimalform;seeappendixD).Astaffofthepython
restsatoptheseremains.Thestaffturnstodustandis
destroyedifitleavestheTomboftheNineGods(butsee"Lost
Treasures").
Moa’sSpirit.ThespiritofMoatriestoinhabitany
characterwhotouchesthestaff(see"SpiritsoftheNine
TricksterGods").WhenMoa’sspiritmanifests,read:

Ifthespiritsuccessfullyinhabitsthecharacter,givethe
playerMoa’scard(seeappendixF).Iftheattemptfails,the
spiritreturnstothestaffandwaitsforanothercharacterto
touchit.


15 .WindTunnel


Carvedbirdssoaracrossthewallsofthiscorridor.
Blockingthepassagenearitsnorthernendisalarge
adamantinepropellerwithfivesharpblades.

WithasuccessfulDC 15 Wisdom(Perception)check,a
characterdiscernsthattheentirefloorofthecorridorisa
singlepressureplate.TheadamantinepropellerhasAC 20 , 30
hitpoints,andimmunitytoalldamageexceptforcedamage.It
thundersintomotionwhenevermorethan 20 poundsof
pressureisplacedonthecorridorfloor.Onceactivated,the
propellerspinsuptofullspeedin 6 seconds.Iftheweightis
removedfromthefloor,thebladestakeafullminutetoslow
toastop.


Whilethepropellerisspinninguporslowingdown,a
creaturecanleapthroughagapbetweentwobladeswitha
successfulDC 20 Dexterity(Acrobatics)check.Onafailed
check,thecharactertakes 33 ( 6 d 10 )slashingdamageasit
passesthroughtheblades.
Atfullspeed,thepropellerdeals 66 ( 12 d 10 )slashing
damagetoanycreaturethatpassesthroughit,andtheblades
areturningtoofastforacreaturetoleapbetweenthem.The
rapidlyspinningpropelleralsocreatesawindtunneleffect,
suchthatanycreaturethatcomeswithin 10 feetofthe
propellerorstartsitsturntheremustsucceedonaDC 15
Strengthsavingthrow.Acreaturethatfailsthesaveishurled
northwardintothepitinarea 16 .Ifthisforcedmovement
causesthecreaturetopassthroughthepropeller,thecreature
takesdamagefromthespinningblades.
Onecanjamthepropellerbyfixinganimmovablerodin
placebetweentwooftheblades.Othermagicitemswedged
betweenthebladesareknockedasideasthepropellerturns.
Thepropellerdestroysallnonmagicalobjectslodgedbetween
itsspinningblades.
Whilethepropellerismotionless,acreaturethatisn’t
incapacitatedcanjamthemechanismwithitsbody.Whenthe
propellerbeginstoturn,thecreaturemustmakeaDC 20
Strength(Athletics)check.Ifthechecksucceeds,thepropeller
isjammeduntilthestartofthecreature’snextturn,whenit
canuseitsactiontorepeatthecheck.Acreaturethatfailsthe
checkorchoosestoextricateitselftakes 11 ( 2 d 10 )slashing
damageandisejectednorthofthepropeller.
Ifthepropellerisjammedfor 3 consecutiverounds,it
breaksdownandbecomesnonfunctional.Atdawnthenext
day,Witherssendstombdwarvestorepairthedamageand
returnthetraptoitsoperationalstate.

charactersmustturnthreekeyshiddeninsidethetreasure
chests.

TreasureChests


Eachchestis 5 feetlong, 3 feetwide,and 3 feethigh.Allthree
areunlockedand(forthemostpart)empty.Thechestscannot
bemoved,andtheyareimpervioustodamageandspells.
Openinganychestrevealsa 3 - inch-longgoldkey
protrudingfromanadamantinekeyholesetintotheunderside
ofthechest’slid.Thekeycannotberemoved,andadamantine
clampspreventitfrombeingturnedwhilethechestisopen.
Whenthechestlidcloses,amuffledclicksoundsfromwithin
thelidastheclampsaroundthekeyrelease.Anycharacter
whoclimbsinsideachestandclosesitslidcanturnitsgolden
keywithease.
Ifachest’skeyisturnedwhilethechestisshut,thechest
locksandtheclampssnapshutonthekeyoncemore.Any
characterinsidethechestwhenthishappensistrapped.Atthe
sametime,abuttonmagicallyappearsonthelidofWongo’s
sarcophagus.

Sarcophagus


ThesarcophaguslidiscarvedwithastylizedimageofWongo
inhissu-monsterform(seeappendixD)andhasbeenmelded
totherestofthesarcophaguswithpowerfulmagic.
Consequently,thelidcannotberemoved.Thestone
sarcophagusisimpervioustodamageandspells.
