components,andcagesfilledwithrats.Litironbraziers
hangbychainsfromtheceiling.Alongthenorthwall,a
steppeddaisissetwithabulkycontraption:aniron
maidenofsorts,attachedtoanetworkofsteaming
pistons,tubes,andbubblingvatsofblood.Fivemasked
dwarvesoperatethecontraption.Whenthecharactersarrive,fivetombdwarvesare
workinginsidethechamber.Eachonehasthestatisticsofa
wight,exceptthatitwieldsabattleaxeandalightcrossbow.If
theadventurersleavethisarea,there’sa 50 percentchance
that 1 d 4 oftheothertombdwarvesprowlingthedungeonare
presentwhentheyreturn.
Anycharacterwhosearchestheforgeuncoversenough
geartoassembletwosetsofthieves’tools,asetofartisan’s
tools,asetofalchemist’ssupplies,asetofmason’stools,anda

Thedwarvesusetheironcontraptiononthedaistocraft
tombguardiansfromthecorpsesofslainadventurers.Asthe
charactersarrive,thetombdwarvesareintheprocessof
unleashingtheirnewestcreation.
Theironcontraptionshuddersasitopens,releasinga
hissingcloudofsteam.Throughtheroilingvapor,an
armoredfigurewearingabuckethelmstompsintoview.Thecreaturethatemergesfromthecontraptionisatomb
guardian—afleshgolemencasedinplatearmor(AC 17 ).
Thisguardianwasfashionedusingthesalvagedremainsof
Seward,anadventurerwiththeCompanyoftheYellow
Banner,andanumberofotherunfortunatetrespassers.Nowa
mindlessundead,itattacksthecharactersonsight.Treasure
Anycharacterwhosearchestheforgefindsaghostlantern
(seeappendixC)thatoncebelongedtoSeward.Itliesona
benchnexttosometools.
Thespiritofafemalemoonelfwarlockknownasthe
Starfallenresideswithintheghostlantern.Ifanycharacter
touchesthelantern,thespiritcanbeseenwithinit.Thespirit
isinsubstantialandcan’tbeharmed,norcanitcauseharm.It
speaksandunderstandsCommon,Elvish,andSylvan.Ifthe
lanternisdestroyed,thespiritbecomestrappedinthe
Soulmonger.

CompanyoftheYellowBannerfoundthelanternandbegan
